ABOUT

River Adomeit is a bassist, composer, and music educator originally from Hartford, Connecticut. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory with a bachelor's degree in jazz bass performance, River has studied and performed with jazz and world music luminaries such as Jamey Haddad, Guitar Prasanna, Anat Cohen, Billy Childs, Avery Sharpe, Matt Wilson, and Romero Lubambo. 
River’s playing combines a deep knowledge and appreciation of American jazz with that of other world traditions, which have been solidified through tours and performances in The Netherlands, Brazil, India, and South Africa. They have performed in a wide variety of venues and genres, from singer-songwriter open mics to large theater productions.  
In addition to performing, River has been an educator of both jazz and classical music for over five years. In addition to teaching theory and improvisation at the Litchfield Jazz Camp, River also taught Suzuki strings and general orchestra for two years through MUSIC Inc., a Chicago-based non-profit that brings classical music education to students ages 6+. River has ample experience teaching masterclasses with a variety of audiences and genres, from elementary school children in India to college students studying jazz in South Africa.
